Number of Players in the Main Event

The number of players in the Main Event went from 512 in 2000 to 6,358 in 2007.   Also the number of events available doubled in that time frame.

On a curious note ...

in 2000 the number of players 512 times entry fee of $10,000 equals the prize pool of $5,120,000.

From 2003 - 2007 not all the money made it to the prize pool.

A cool 5 million was taken off the top in 2006.
